Rhodes Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship is the world's oldest international postgraduate scholarship, funding more than a hundred outstanding students each year to study full-time at the University of Oxford. Administered by the Rhodes Trust since 1903, the scholarship is allocated through geographic Rhodes Constituencies, meaning eligibility, application process, and exact deadlines vary depending on the applicant's country or region of citizenship or residence. Successful Rhodes Scholars receive full coverage of University and college fees, a living stipend (GBP 20,400 per annum at current rates), a settling-in allowance, health insurance, visa costs, and two economy-class flights to and from the UK at the start and end of studies. Scholars can pursue almost any full-time postgraduate course at Oxford, typically coming into residence the October following their selection, and join a global community of more than 8,000 Rhodes alumni spanning government, academia, business, and civil society in over 100 countries. Selection looks beyond academic excellence alone to assess leadership, character, extracurricular achievement, and a demonstrated commitment to using one's talents for the benefit of others, reflecting the original Rhodes criteria dating back to 1902. Applications for the 2027 cohort opened 1 June 2026 (US constituency opens 1 July), with most country-specific deadlines falling between July and October 2026; candidates must check their specific Rhodes Constituency for the exact date applicable to them.
