DAAD Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates and Young Academics

A DAAD research grant funding doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers to carry out a research project in Germany under a German academic supervisor, alongside their home-institution supervisor. Funding covers a monthly stipend (EUR 1,300 for doctoral candidates), an annual research allowance, travel costs, health and liability insurance, and optional German language course support, for 2 to 12 months during a doctorate or 2 to 6 months in the early postdoc phase. Applicants must hold (or be working toward) a Master's degree, have started their doctorate no more than 3 years before applying (postdocs: no more than 4 years since completion), and secure a German academic host in advance. The annual application deadline is October 30, 2026 (selection in spring 2027, funding starting from June or October 2027).
