CERN Administrative Student Programme

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Geneva, runs a paid Administrative Student Programme for undergraduate and Master's students in non-STEM fields such as administration, communications, finance, human resources, law, logistics, procurement, and library and information science. Students join CERN for between 2 and 12 months, working alongside experienced professionals on real administrative projects that keep one of the world's leading scientific organisations running. Participants receive a tax-free monthly allowance of CHF 3,486, comprehensive health insurance coverage, 30 days of paid annual leave, a possible family supplement, and in some cases a travel allowance to Geneva. Applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State, have completed at least 18 months (three semesters) of relevant undergraduate or Master's study at the time of selection, and remain enrolled as full-time students throughout the placement. PhD students and graduates are not eligible for this particular programme; STEM and engineering students should instead apply to CERN's separate Technical Student Programme. CERN reviews applications on a rolling basis through panels held roughly three times a year, with the current open round closing 30 June 2026 at 23:59 Geneva time. This is an outstanding opportunity for students whose degree requires or encourages a practical training placement, offering exposure to a genuinely multicultural, multidisciplinary international organisation alongside a substantial financial allowance.
